Dealing With Haters

    1. Click on the green circle to view the video and watch it with your mentee(s).

    2. After watching the video with your mentee(s), ask these questions to engage the young person(s) in a mentoring conversation with you:

    a) Why did Cleveland boo Lebron James?

    b) How do you think it feels having thousands of people booing you?

    c) Have you ever had a group of people hating on you for some reason?  Why?

    d) Are there people who just don’t like you? (Don’t name any names.)  Do you know why they don’t like you?

    e) How does this make you feel?  Does this affect your self-esteem?

    f) Was Lebron James affected by the booing?

    g) Let’s make a list of things that we can do to help us deal with “haters.” Suggestions: 1) Talk positive about yourself, 2) Pray about it, 3) Offer an apology if the “haters” feel like you have wronged them, 4) Don’t read the “hate mail” (ignore their hateful words), 5) Surround yourself with encouraging people.

    h) In the Bible in 1 Peter 3:9 it says, "Do no repay evil with evil or insult with insult."  Is that possible to do? How?

    i) Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
