Respect for Authority


  • Mentoring Conversation Instructions:

    2. After watching the video with your mentee(s), ask these questions to engage the young person(s) in a mentoring conversation with you:


    a) What was the young woman in the video clip charged with?


    b) How was the woman talking and acting in front of the judge?


    c) Why did the judge increase her bail to $10,000?


    d) Why did the judge give her 30 days in the county jail?


    e) What is your definition of disrespect?  


    f) What is your definition of respect?


    g) Why is it important to respect people in authority?

     

    h) Are there certain people in authority (parents, teachers, principal, boss, police, judge) that you have trouble respecting?  Why?


    i) The Bible says in Romans 13:2,  "…the one who resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." Are you respecting the authorities in your life (parents, teachers, coaches, employers, government officials)?

     

    j) Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
