Raise Funds For

ELevate Your G.A.M.E.

"My goal is to raise $2,000 for this great mentoring program.  I ask you to consider giving $50, $100, $200 or more." (Taminka Wheeler-Braxton)

I was one of the very first students to participate in the EYG program at Compton High School, and looking back more than 20 years later, I can truly say that experience helped shape the woman I am today.

During my time with  EYG (Elevate your G.AM.E), I participated in a summer internship that opened my eyes to possibilities I may not have otherwise imagined for myself. I still remember telling my mentor, Ms. Cecilia, that I wanted to become a nurse. She took the time to encourage me, guide me, and help me see what my future could look like. Mr. Freeman walked me through the process of interviewing for an internship at Charles R. Drew University.

Twenty+ years later, I’m a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing, helping students Elevate Their G.A.M.E. EYG gave me the confidence to dream bigger and believe I could achieve my goals.

I thank God for EYG, Ms. Cecilia, and Mr. Freeman, for believing in me, investing in me, and helping shape the woman I am today.

I am forever grateful to be a product of EYG for God's Glory! (Taminka Wheeler-Braxton)

Mercedes Ramirez - “I was a mentee of this wonderful mentoring program. I started in this mentoring program my sophomore year until my senior year, thanks to the advice of one of my closest friends. When I joined, three of my friends joined the program as well. Throughout these three years, I was able to improve my grades, define my career goals, and gain invaluable networking skills. As a result, I became my class valedictorian with the highest GPA.”  (Mercedes earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UC Merced.)

David James - "Mr. Polidore was my mentor (at Elevate Your G.A.M.E.).  He always called me King David. I can remember so many great conversations with him on life and his business, so well. But the most lasting memory is from graduation day, when he looked deep into my eyes while gripping my hand firmly, and said he was proud of me for finishing. He assured me this was not the end but the beginning of something new. He encouraged me to keep looking forward."
